Screamline

The world's oldest living Scout Show !

from the Divisional District Commissioners

We are always reading headlines about the decline in "this-and-that" and about how

"such-and-such" is causing problems - usually portraying young people in a very

poor light.

Well!! Take note!!

Here we have young people, and the not so young people, from all over Stoke and

Newcastle:-

1. Working together

2. Having tremendous fun

3. Providing high-class entertainment

That really ought to be headline news.

What is amazing is that Screamline casts have been doing this since 1934 and all

part of the 100 year movement, called "Scouting".

So to the team of "Screamline 2007" - All the very best this week.

To the audiences - marvel and enjoy.

Steve Broadhurst, DC Newcastle

To all my Scouting friends in Screamline:

This is the first year that I have been involved with Screamline and I am both amazed and grateful, that so many of you have given up your time to ensure that our Divisional Show will be something special. You truly are inspirational, not only to me, but to everyone involved in Scouting in North Staffordshire.

I am sure all your hard work and enthusiasm will enable you to rise up and meet the challenge to make this year’s Screamline something special for our Centenary Year. The way you have all bonded together from the three Districts together with our Guiding friends, surely embodies the spirit of Scouting - "A Scout is a brother to all Scouts."

Congratulations to all of you involved in Screamline, in whatever role, you have truly kept to Baden Powell’s words "Do your best." I am sure that everyone involved in Scouting in Staffordshire will be proud of you all.

Well done!

Pete Whitehouse, DC Potteries North

Screamline as with any other gang show offers the chance for our members to be stars whether front, on or back stage, front of house, making the orange juice or producing and directing the show all roles are equally important to the final outcome. What a privilege for all three Districts making up the Division to be part of the worlds oldest living Scout Show especially in our centenary year. Well done to all. Enjoy the time together and we all salute you for the commitment and effort freely given, helping to realise the aims of our movement.

Thank you all.

Message from the Director

Celebrating 100 years of Scouting and being in the longest running show in the world, what more could a young person want, (Play stations excluded).  Two years of planning, six months of rehearsals, many trials and tribulations have come up against us but as you'll see ............., the cast and everyone involved in the show have pulled through in true Scouting spirit. As Ralph Reader said in one of his many songs, “I have a gang with a high class score who could ask for anything more”. Many thanks must go to my production team and helpers who have made this show possible. So .................................... enjoy, and see that Scouting is still thriving in many ways after all these years.

Thanks, Paul

To ALL the SCREAMLINE Gang on and off stage

Well done yesterday, you have a show!!

Congratulations on working so hard for your dress rehearsal.

All that is required now is CMA’s favourite word  “SPARKLE”

Best wishes for a very successful week’s run.

                          Malcolm

PS   See me if you don’t know who CMA was I will be delighted to tell you all about him

After months of hard work its difficult to realise that the first night is next Monday. Everyone is very excited from the costume ladies to the cast stewards and of course the cast.

Over the weekend Paul and the production team will be trying put the last minute touches in place to make the show a wonderful success. The back stage will also be frantically finishing off the scenery and and writing the lighting, sound and stage plots.

The front of house will also be rehearsing how they will get the audience in seated on time.

Its also the last chance for the musical team to have a final practice before their first night.

So I would like to thank every one involved, I’m sure all the effort will be worthwhile and all the hard worked rewarded when the audience realise what a great show it is.

It just remains for me to wish everyone the best of luck, hope it’s a tremendous success for everyone involved and above enjoy every moment of the show week and remember when your on stage Smile- break a leg

Show Chairman

Screamline is the longest running gang show in the world, and every show is a fantastic show.  Screamline consistently delights its visitors many of whom return again and again.  Screamline is also a fantastic experience for all the youngsters who take part, and it is also great fun for the adults.  It's great that Screamline is again with us In Scouting's centenary year.  I look forward to Screamline 2007, and I wish all the people, young and older, who are taking part, in whatever role, all the best for this year

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF SCOUT

The performing arts are close to my heart so for anyone who learns their lines, remembers the dance steps and sings as best they can, deserves all the applause they will receive at the end of the night. There is no greater motivation that aiming to be the best you can on the opening night and nearly always the hard work pays off. The moment you are in the spotlight in front of an audience will be something you always remember. For those behind the scenes it is a great adventure too and just as important - a star performer is only as good if he or she shares the limelight - so even if you're just sweeping the stage you're in showbiz!

So good luck to "Screamline" on your March 2007 Show and may there be many more to come.

"Break a leg!"

With best wishes,        Peter Duncan CHIEF SCOUT
